Adding Customers to Companies
Supervisors can add an existing Customer account to a company. Only an Admin can create the user account and send the initial invitation.
Adding an existing Customer
- Ask an Admin to create the user with the platform role Customer if the account does not exist yet.
- Open the contractor's Company page and click Members.
- Click Add users.
- Find the Customer account and click Add. The membership starts as Member.
- Click Edit role and choose Owner only when the person needs owner-level billing access and notifications.
Adding the membership does not send a new invitation. The Admin-created account already owns the invitation flow; see Signing In for the recipient's steps.
Member and Owner
The company role is separate from the user's platform role:
- Member — regular access to the company's data.
- Owner — owner-only billing actions and related billing notices.
Click Edit role on the Members row to switch between them. This does not promote a Customer to the platform-wide Supervisor or Admin role.
Removing access
Click Remove on the Members row to revoke access to that company. The user account and access to other companies remain intact.
If all access should end, ask an Admin to review the user's remaining memberships and discard the account.
Invitation problems
If the original invitation did not arrive:
- Ask the recipient to check spam and confirm the exact email address.
- Ask an Admin to open the user's page and click Resend Invite.
The Members page does not create accounts or resend invitations.
Common scenarios
A new owner
Ask an Admin to create the new Customer account, add it to the company, change its company role to Owner, then remove the former owner's membership.
A new employee
Ask an Admin to create the Customer account, then add it to the company as a Member.
A bookkeeper or accountant
Use Member for ordinary access. Use Owner only if the person must manage the billable company's or organization's payment method and receive billing notices.
Best practices
- Verify the email before the Admin creates the account.
- Default the company role to Member.
- Remove leavers promptly, and distinguish one-company removal from disabling the whole account.
- Never share accounts; one login per person keeps the audit trail meaningful.
